Getting Pinched

So today I woke up dreading what was about to happen. I was going to my kick boxing class but instead of working out we were going to be weighed, measured and pinched. UGH! However, I am happy to report I left with a smile. I have lost fat, gained muscle, can do 30 regular push ups in a minute and all measurements have gone down!!! I am very happy with the results!

After class I was talking with our trainer and he asked if I would write a little something for his blog so here is what I wrote - just thought I would share...

So I woke up this morning dreading the thought I would be pinched, weighed and measured in a couple of hours, but I knew I needed to go and get it over with. I've been feeling better and my clothes have been fitting better, so I honestly was a little curious on what I would learn today. As I got on the scale I felt my first taste of victory- I had lost weight! It wasn't anything like on the Biggest Loser but the scale was finally a friend to me. The measurements also proved to be good news. Again, I didn't lose inches but I lost fat and gained muscle.

For years I have tried to get to this point by going to the gym, but I never would push myself to the point where I really felt sore, weak and exhausted. I feel all of these after each work out with Duncan or Rachel- and I have to say it's a good pain! I have also tried almost every diet out there and spent hundreds of dollars on "the magic weight loss pill", none of these have worked and if anything my body got more screwed up. I feel my body went into a little bit of a shock when starting the UBC program. I was eating better, not taking any diet pills and I'm working out about 5 days a week, and that was not normal for me. Now that I am on the right track I am losing weight the right way and I feel and look stronger. I think that is a key comment right there for everyone - Do it the right way and eventually your body will kick in, and you will feel better with each pound lost and each pound of muscle gained. I can say proudly for the first time that I lost this weight by eating right and working out (really hard)!
