Pay it Forward...

Is it Good Karma, the luck of the draw or just being in the right place at the right time? Whatever it is I have a renewed hope in Humanity!

A few weeks ago I was having a pretty bad day. So I decided to treat myself to a Latte. So I drove to my favorite coffee shop and pulled into the drive thru. I patiently waited in line and debated with myself if I should go all out and get the big 20 ouncer? I decided I would since the day was off to a horrible start. So I ordered my monster size Skinny Milky Way even though I knew it would cost me over $4.00. I got to the window and the wonderful Barista told me that the woman in the car in front of me paid for my drink. I was shocked and extremely grateful! How did she know I was having a bad day? Did God whisper something to her and she felt compelled to do something nice for me? Was she “paying it forward” because someone had done something nice for her? Whatever the reason may be it doesn’t matter. Her act of kindness changed my entire day! I ended up having a pretty good day after that, so who ever you are- Thank you!!!

Well, so the story doesn’t end there. I have wanted to pay it forward and do something for someone. So, on Monday as I was waiting in line at a different coffee house, I paid for the coffee for the woman behind me. I have to say; as I drove away I felt gitty inside. Like, the way you feel when you have a big surprise for someone and you can barely contain yourself. I was wishing I could hear the conversation when the woman got to the window and the Barista told her I paid for her coffee. I was hoping that it made her day and that she would go pay it forward some how.

So I haven’t thought much of that since Monday. But as I was treating myself to a latte (a small one this time) I got to the window to pay and found that the gentleman in front of me had paid for my drink! WOW – I couldn’t believe it! Twice in 3 weeks this has happened! So my Friday has started out GREAT and now I am eager to pay it forward again. I think I will try to venture away from the coffee routine and find something else to do.

I know you’re not really suppose to discuss this but I wanted to pass this story along and hope that someone else is encouraged to just do some random act of kindness for either a friend or for a stranger. Maybe make cookies and take it to a neighbor, buy a hamburger and coke for the homeless man on the corner, weed your grandma’s flower bed for her or buy someone’s coffee. No matter how small the gesture is you will feel good about the good deed and the recipient you choose will have a great day! Who knows, your small act of kindness could help them in a very significant way! When you do something nice for someone you both feel good – you both win!

My challenge to y’all is to try this in the next few days. You will be glad you did!

Back Update...

First I want to thank everyone who emailed me or posted comments and offered help if I need it. Just so you know I will be calling all of you when it's time for us to move. :)

Update...


I am feeling sooooo much better! I made a little call to the back popper and they popped that vertebra back into place and it feels great! Well maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but it does feel a lot better. I am VERY leery of chiropractors but this time they did good! So I went twice the first week, twice this week and if all goes well I'll go only once next week. I am also doing physical therapy and now my own custom workout to keep everything in place. Oh and my nice back popper said massage therapy would be good too. It will help to keep the muscles from tightening up and pulling my vertebra out of alignment. So Tarah - I need to get on your calendar - doctor's orders!


On a side note to all of this. When I went in today the back popper had received some x-rays that were taken of my back in November when I was having a lot of weird leg pain and numbness. My doctor at the normal family doctor's office told me my x-rays came back clean. So I was sent for an MRI. That came back clean but the bad leg pain and numbness was still happening so they wanted me to go see a neurologist. We were heading into the holidays so I put it off and discovered that with working out the pain was getting less and less. So basically I healed myself - well a temporary fix. :)


Well it turns out that in the original x-ray report the radiologist stated I had spondylolisthesis. This was never mentioned to me. If I would have know this then that would have been the answer to my leg pain. So in my eyes someone dropped the ball here. Even if they didn't think that was the cause I should have been told that I have a break/ slip in my L5 vertebra. I'm pretty mad that I was told that my "x-ray came back clean". Anyone out there a Personal Injury Lawyer?? Anyone have any recommendations on a good doctor?

Married to a Heroic Bystander

A week or so ago I wrote about Fireworks and Teenagers and what Mike did to put the fire out. Well, this last weekend we received a letter on our door. Every house in the neighborhood actually received this letter. It's from the boys who started the fire - - Here is what it said...

"Dear Neighbors of Brownstone,
Last week at about 4:15pm, me and my two friends, Daniel and Karin were playing with fireworks. We were lighting fire crackers when a wild fire cracker flew across the creek and into a pile of cattails. In a few seconds they were on fire. A heroic bystander soon ran over and started smothering the flames with dirt. Karin threw me the plastic bucket we had the fire crackers in. I filled it water from the stream and started pouring it over the fire. After about two minutes the fire truck came and the fire was out. I'm very sorry and apologize for my actions. Sincerely, Patrick "

I appreciate that the kids apologized for their actions and left the note. I also thank the parents for making the kids write the letter.

Mike loved that he was mentioned in the letter as being Heroic - what a guy!!

Cowboy's New Family

With mixed emotions I'm here to report that Cowboy has found a new wonderful home. Our friends Ryan and Ambre contacted us after I put the first blog post up about Cowboy and told us they were interested in meeting him. We arranged for them to come over to see how their kids did with him and needless to say it went great!

Cowboy has been at their house for 2 weeks now and he is doing well. We got together with everyone on Sunday to have a little reunion. It was great to find that Cowboy hadn't forgotten us and he was very excited to see us. He was having a great time at Ambre's parents house playing with a couple of other dogs and playing in a little creek that runs at the end of their property.

Ambre takes him out on walks every morning and she is home all day watching some other kiddo's so Cowboy gets a lot of attention! Ambre has mentioned she feels bad taking him from us because he is such a good dog - don't feel bad Ambre we didn't have any other choice. I am just so thankful he went to a great home and is getting so much love from your family. I'm also thankful that this was an open adoption and we can see him whenever we want and that we get to hang out and just chat!

As a special treat we took Cowboy one of his favorite treats - a smoked ham bone that still has meat on it. A little secret that we know is that it gives him really bad gas - sorry guys. :)

Over the last two weeks we have really been missing him and feel like something was missing in our house- (especially when some food would fall on the floor - what a great mop he was). We left our play date all feeling a little sad again but happy too that he was so loved with his new family.

My New Look...

We are going through a lot of changes in the Deely household so I decided my blog needed to be changed too. A friend of mine from work has started a side business of designing blogs for people. She does amazing work!!
