Dinner and hair gel

Last weekend we were invited to Ryan and Ambre's house for dinner. We were excited for numerous reasons. One we got to hang out with our friends and sit back and enjoy the evening and two- we got to see Cowboy!

When we arrived Cowboy remembered us instantly and it was such a relief since the kids were really worried he would have forgotten us. But he was very excited and we all got some good cuddle time with him. He fits in with his new family very well and they are taking excellent care of him!

Ambre prepared a great dinner for all of us. The kids sat at one table and the grown ups escaped to the formal dining room to enjoy our dinner and each others company. As for those of you who don't know Ryan and I have known each other for a long time. The first time I met him was back in High School! I believe he was in college though. We then met again at Calvary when I was in college and became friends at that point. I met Ambre through my brother-in-law at first - well we were introduced I believe at a party- isn't that right Ambre?? Anyway, just a year later she is engaged to Ryan - how great is that? Sorry - I digressed...

After dinner the kids went off to play, Mike and Ryan played the Wii and Ambre and I talked and cleaned up. About an hour after dinner Caitlin walks in and...

C- "Mommy - look I made my hair shiny!"
Me - "What? Oh you got it wet - that looks great honey!"
C-"No, I put gel in it!"
Me - "whoa - oh my goodness- where did you get gel" I asked her as I felt her gel soaked sticky hair.
C- "We all did it!"
At this point Ambre and I jumped up and went to find all the kids. All of them had gel soaked hair - but the worse was Ambre's little one - Nick. The girls had a great time making him over! Then Ambre asked the question I was dreading - "whose idea was this?" I was so afraid that one of my girls did this as we were guests in their house. But thankfully her daughter Allie looked up and proudly said - "it was my idea!" She was so proud and I was so relieved. I kept thinking "oh no they will never want us to come back if my kids got into their hair supplies". So glad we can continue to hang out!
By the time we left it was about 10:30 and the kids were asleep before we got out of their subdivision so I decided to let them sleep with the goop in their hair. The next morning Caitlin was so distraught over her hair so she dumped water on it. You all know what this does - it makes it more sticky, crispy and slimy all at the same time. When I first saw the girls in the morning it seriously looked like a bird flew in and made a nest in their hair. Thankfully, just two shampoos and a bunch of conditioner solved the nesting problem.

Seriously though, thank you guys for a great night! Oh and thanks for giving Cowboy something that caused bad gas before we got there - it brought back a lot of memories!

The girls with Cowboy!
Cowboy getting some loves!

Nick and his cool new hair do!
Messy is in!!
You can't see it in the photo's but there was a lot of gel!
The picture doesn't do the hair styles justice - you can't see the "shine" very well.
