Buying a Car... UGH!

Mike and I need to receive an award. We were at a car dealership last night for over 3 hours and we were able to walk out without being suckered in. Needless to say the sales guy was not happy, in fact he was down right mad at us! No hand shaking, no "I look forward to talking with you tomorrow" - he was just plain rude.
Here's the story in a some what short version. We went to the dealership hoping to trade in our cars. We are doing this to lower our monthly costs. Anyway, I have been doing some research and knew what cars I wanted to look at. But he kept telling me that none of those cars would work for us. Not work for us??? We have great credit - two good cars we're trading in and those won't work?? So then he started to push cars on us that were just junky. One smelled of smoke and had burn marks in the seats, the other even though it was a 2007 sounded like it would fall apart when the door closed. I want to reduce my payments but come on - I know I can still get a good car! Long story short we test drove one other car but since we hadn't done any research on it we wanted to come home and see what Consumer Reports had to say. All I will say is we are not buying that car.

So now the hunt is on. We have two dealerships we are going to go do the drive in but don't get out of the car routine in fear of being attacked by pushy car salesmen. If we like something enough we will try this again. UGH! Buying cars is not fun.

We are going to continue to try and sell our cars on Craig's list until we find something and do the Trade in thing. I much rather sell them on our own so we won't be upside down - so if you know of anyone looking for 2 really good cars here are the details you can send them
2006 Honda Accord SE - 19000 Miles - Asking $18,300
2007 Honda Pilot EX- L - 14,500 Miles - Asking $29,500
The Pilot has all the bells and whistles!

Wish us luck on this not so fun endeavor.

Did you try Edmark in Nampa? That's where we got our car, the salesman was awesome. The one we had isn't there anymore I don't think..but we've had nothing but great experiences with them.

My parents are absolutely in love with Jim Morrison (weird, I know!) at Dan Weibold Ford in Nampa. They've bought quite a few of their cars from him.

We're in the process of working with a guy at Toyota that came highly recommended - if it doesn't work out then we will venture onto Edmark. Thanks for the post!
